CASE STUDY / GANGSAW BLADES

BRAK ASHATI GANGSAW BLADESLIBYA

An extremely hard and abrasive material where blade life and cutting ability seemed impossible to combine.

Libya LIBYA · BRAK ASHATI
THE RESULT IN ONE LINE

MORE THAN 40 BLOCKS.WITHOUT SACRIFICING CUTTING SPEED.

The answer was not a harder segment. It was the right alloy and the right geometry.

THE CHALLENGE

Hard enough to last. Soft enough to cut.

Brak Ashati is extremely hard and abrasive. With a segment that was too hard, the blade could not maintain the required cutting action. With a softer segment, cutting improved but blade life was limited to around 20–25 blocks.

THE DIAMOND SERVICE SOLUTION

We worked on alloy and segment height.

Diamond Service redesigned the blade specification by modifying both the segment alloy and the segment height, searching for the right balance between cutting ability, wear resistance and machine productivity.

THE RESULT

More than 40 blocks with good drop speed.

The new configuration allowed the customer to cut more than 40 blocks while maintaining good drop speed and stable cutting performance.

WHAT CHANGED

LIFE AND SPEED.ENGINEERED TOGETHER.

The objective was not simply to make the segment harder. The result came from engineering the right combination of alloy, segment height and cutting behaviour for this specific material.
