GOT A PROBLEM?
Common Challenges in Diamond Gangsaw Cutting
Real cutting problems. The experience to help you face them.
EXPLORE THE PROBLEMS ↓Every stone is different.
Every cutting problem deserves the right approach.
Machine conditions, cutting and tensioning parameters, blade installation and the compatibility between diamond segments and stone can all influence the final result. At Diamond Service, we have been manufacturing diamond tools since 1973. We work alongside stone processors to understand their challenges and identify suitable solutions.
Recognise one of the problems below? Tell us what you are experiencing. A reliable assessment starts with the real cutting conditions.
What is happening on your gangsaw?
Explore the symptoms below. These descriptions are intended to help identify the issue, not to replace an individual technical assessment.
Wavy Slabs?
Are your marble slabs showing unwanted waves or irregular surfaces?

Surface irregularities can compromise slab quality, increase subsequent processing costs and reduce usable material. The origin is not always immediately apparent, and replacing the blades alone may not resolve the issue.
ASK OUR TECHNICAL TEAMCrooked Cutting?
Are your slabs coming out with inconsistent thickness or unexpected deviations?

Cutting accuracy is especially important when processing valuable blocks or producing thin slabs. Even small deviations can reduce block yield and create additional processing costs.
ASK OUR TECHNICAL TEAMSegments Not Cutting?
Do your diamond segments lose cutting ability even though they still have plenty of height?

When segments lose their cutting aggressiveness, production can slow down and cutting behaviour may become irregular. Similar-looking stones do not necessarily behave the same way during cutting.
ASK OUR TECHNICAL TEAMExcessive Segment Wear?
Are your diamond blades wearing out faster than expected?

Short blade life increases tooling costs and can undermine the economics of block cutting. Performance must be considered in relation to the stone and the actual operating conditions.
ASK OUR TECHNICAL TEAMLow Cutting Speed?
Is your gangsaw taking too long to complete a cutting cycle?
Low cutting speed limits production capacity and raises operating costs. The challenge is to balance productivity, slab quality and blade life rather than focus on a single figure.
ASK OUR TECHNICAL TEAMSegment Marks on Slabs?
Are visible marks or lines appearing on the surface of your slabs?

Surface marks may require additional finishing and can affect the commercial quality of the slabs. The appearance and severity of these defects vary from one cutting situation to another.
ASK OUR TECHNICAL TEAMHollowed-Out Diamond Segments?
Are your segments developing a deep groove in the centre, sometimes wearing through completely?

This distinctive abnormal wear pattern can dramatically shorten blade life, affect cutting performance and cause unexpected interruptions. It should not be confused with ordinary, uniform segment wear.
ASK OUR TECHNICAL TEAMBroken or Missing Segments?
Are diamond segments cracking, breaking or detaching from the steel blade?

Segment failures can interrupt production and create additional costs. The circumstances of the failure must be understood before a suitable course of action can be identified.
ASK OUR TECHNICAL TEAMBlade Body Problems?
Are the steel blade bodies showing cracks, deformation or unexpected failures?

The integrity of the steel body is essential to cutting accuracy and reliable operation. Suspected structural damage requires stopping use and having the equipment assessed before restarting.
ASK OUR TECHNICAL TEAMA Stone That Just Won’t Cut?
Are you struggling with a marble or limestone that behaves differently from what you expected?
Two stones with similar appearance can have very different cutting characteristics. Unusual material behaviour may affect productivity, segment performance and blade life.
ASK OUR TECHNICAL TEAMLet's find the right approach together.
Tell us the stone you are cutting, your machine and operating conditions. Photos or videos can help our technical team understand the issue.
